We have been cleaning roofs since 1990. These are some of the earliest photos we have of soft spray roof cleaning — a commercial condominium building on the Intracoastal. The images are small because digital cameras back then were not what they are today, but they tell the story.

Before and After — Same Building, Same Roof

You can see one side of the building before the cleaning, and the same roof after. The staining is the same algae, lichen, and mildew we still treat on Hill Country tile roofs today. The chemistry has been refined and the equipment is better, but the fundamental soft wash approach is the one we helped develop on jobs exactly like this one.

Bill Eary On the Roof

That is Bill Eary himself running the soft spray line on the tile. Bill was one of the frontiersmen of the systems that are basically used across the industry today — low-pressure application, roof-safe chemistry, and letting the treatment do the work instead of blasting the tile with high pressure. Every crew at Texas Pure Clean is trained on the same principles Bill was refining on this rooftop.

Thirty-plus years later we are still doing this work, now out of Boerne, Texas, covering San Antonio and the greater Hill Country. 35,000 roofs cleaned and counting.
